I told myself I wasn’t going to write an end of year blog post because to be honest I had nothing to stay about 20/20 or at least I didn’t think I had anything to say. The impact that COVID-19 has left on the world is truly devastating. Everyday the death toll increases and I just wonder, will we ever get back to normal?
My frustration with the way this government handled the pandemic, the stress of my job, set back after set back, missing my mom and then to witness the murder of another Black man on national television was way too much to bear.
I logged off of all my social media accounts
George Floyd’s death culminating with everything else that was happening America was the tipping point. I needed a break! I logged off of all my social media accounts. I went through the emotions alone.
I felt guilty for even feeling these emotions because there were people going through ten times worst than me. I didn’t have anyone fighting for their life in ICU, I’m still employed and have a roof over my head, but then I remind myself that I am human and I am allowed to have these feelings.
If you didn’t accomplish anything this year, its FINE!
There was a quote floating around Instagram about how there is no excuse for you not to achieve your goals this year. Something about that quote rubbed me the wrong way. We are living through a global pandemic!!! People are suffering financially, emotionally, spiritually and mentally. If you didn’t accomplish anything this year, its FINE!
So what have I done this year? I’ve cried, slept, prayed, journaled, learned a new language, binged watched shows on Netflix, and Zoom chat with family and friends.
As 20/20 comes to an end, I don’t have any goals planned for next year and I’m okay with that. I’m just grateful to be alive. I am allowing myself grace and I hope you are too. I pray 2021 brings you joy, comfort and peace.
Happy New Year!
Until Next time…
