I don’t know about y’all but my Podcast app has gotten me through 20/20. Any podcast that can grab my attention within the first 10-15 minutes and make my day go by faster is a win for me. With that being said, I wanted to share with you the four makeup podcast that I am currently enjoying.
First up is We Speak Beauty hosted by Makeup Artist Lottie Stannard aka Lotstar and Lindsey William of Crazypretty. On their podcast, these two talented women discuss their experience in the industry, how they got started, the types of makeup looks they’ve done, assisting, and working with celebrity clients. They interview Makeup Artists, Hairstylists, Beauty directors and other creatives in the beauty industry. I’m currently enjoying their Stories From Set series where they read stories from their listeners describing the mistakes they made in the beginning of their makeup careers.
I’ve been following Jaleesa Jaikaran since her early days on YouTube. Most recently she has added Podcaster to her title. On her podcast Life of a Makeup Artist, Jaleesa talks about her life as working makeup artist in NYC, the challenges, fashion week and social media. She’s interviewed, Beauty brand owners such as Sharon Chuter, the owner of UOMA Beauty, Makeup Artist Michael Chu and Beauty Influencer/Makeup Artist Katie Hughes. My favorite episodes are the ones where she shares her day to day experience working in the industry which you can listen to in episode 27
Full Coverage: The Beauty Podcast was the first makeup/beauty related podcast that I subscribed to. It is hosted by Harriet Hadfield and Beauty Junkie Lindsey Kelk. Unlike We Speak Beauty and Life of a Makeup Artist, for the first half of the show the ladies talk about their current beauty favs, why they like or dislike them, price range and who they would suggest them to. They have also interviewed some amazing guest as well as people who work in the medical cosmetic field. I enjoy this podcast because I get a mix of both worlds; a Beauty Enthusiast and a Makeup Artist.
If you’re a Bridal Makeup Artist then you definitely need to listen to Sisi- Nike’s podcast, Girl, Just Start! On her podcast Sisi-Nike talks about her journey as MUA and provide tips on how to grow and promote your bridal business. Two of my favorite episodes are Growing the Right Clientele like a Boss and When Your Passion Meets Your 9-5 (w/Guest Kofi Genfi). If you’re stuck in a rut and need some motivation, give Girl, Just Start! a listen.
With the increase popularity of Podcast, it’s only a matter of time before more people in the Makeup Industry start their own podcast and I am here it! In the meantime let me know what podcast you’re currently listening to.
Until Next time…..
